Vigilant was a centerboard sloop and had a pared-down smooth hull of Tobin Bronze heat-rolled metal plate and a ballast keel. In 1893 she was the victorious defender of the eighth America’s Cup against the British challenger. Vigilant was designed by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff and built by his manufacturing company in Rhode Island. Lovers of America’s Cup and Sailing history will enjoy this clock in any room in their home!
The ship design in the clock is a reproduction of an original watercolor by Lee M. Buchanan. As part of our Heirloom Designer Collection, this clock features hand-crafted nautical designs between each of the numbers on the clock face.
The clock has a wooden frame, plesiglass face and a pre-installed backside hoop for hanging. It is for indoor use and requires one AA battery, not included. You have choices for the finish on the frame and clock hands. This design is exclusive with Coast and Country!
