Vigilant was a centerboard sloop and had a pared-down smooth hull of Tobin Bronze heat-rolled metal plate and a ballast keel. In 1893 she was the victorious defender of the eighth America’s Cup against the British challenger. Vigilant was designed by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff and built by his manufacturing company in Rhode Island. 
 
The mug design is a reproduction of an original watercolor by Lee M. Buchanan and has the image on the front and back of the mug. The 15 ounce white ceramic mug is microwave and dishwasher safe. Lovers of America’s Cup and Sailing history will enjoy collecting all four of our racing yacht mugs!
