The U.S.S. Pennsylvania was a 120 gun first-rate ship of the line. She was authorized by Congress to be built on April 29, 1816 and was the largest sailing warship ever built for the U.S. Navy. She was designed and built by Samuel Humphreys in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. She was not launched until July 18, 1837, due to budget restraints.
